Stock market update: IT stocks fall; Mindtree dips 7%

NEW DELHI: IT stocks were trading on a negative note at 01:52PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of Mindtree (down 6.9 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech (down 5.39 per cent), MPhasis (down 3.85 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 3.17 per cent) and Info Edge (India) (down 0.52 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Coforge (up 2.32 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 1.72 per cent), Infosys (up 1.11 per cent), Tata Consultancy (up 0.45 per cent) and Wipro (up 0.2 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.19 per cent down at 21525.55 around 01:52PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 62.05 points at 11742.4, while the BSE Sensex was up 208.54 points at 39936.95.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and Federal Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Poly Medicure, Amber Enterprises India Ltd., JSW Steel, JK Cement and Ruchi Soya Inds hit their fresh 52 week high in today’s trade, while Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Lypsa Gems & Jewellery Ltd., Zee Learn Ltd., Central Bank of India, SKIL Infrastructure Ltd., Som Distilleries & Breweries Ltd., Coal India Ltd., Motor & General Finance Ltd. and Twentyfirst Century Management Services Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
