Rajesh Nambiar in running for Cognizant India MD post

BENGALURU: Rajesh Nambiar, president at networking systems and software company Ciena India, is one of the front-runners for the Cognizant India MD’s role, sources told TOI. The post became vacant when Ramkumar Ramamoorthy quit the firm in July. Ramamoorthy recently joined the Chennai Mathematical Institute as its CEO.
Nambiar is also chairman of Ciena India. Ciena counts Reliance Jio, AT&T and Telstra among its customers. Nambiar is seen to have accelerated the firm’s growth and expanded its presence in networking systems and services in the country. An email to Cognizant and Nambiar did not elicit a response.
Nambiar was previously general manager of IBM’s application services business. Before IBM, he was with the Tata Group for nearly twenty years.
Cognizant continues to see exits at the senior leadership level. Recently, Frank Antonysamy, VP and global markets leader – IoT, quit after an 18-year stint to join Hitachi Vantara as digital solutions leader and executive committee member. Gajen Kandiah, who was president at Cognizant, is now CEO of Hitachi Vantara, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi.
Narayan Iyer, who was the VP and country manager for ANZ, and Devaraj PR, SVP and global IT head for tech services and operations and centre head for Bengaluru at Cognizant, are also said to have left Cognizant. CEO Brian Humphries has done a major restructuring in the company.
